Multi-million-dollar lawsuit launched against Cape Breton golf course for default
Course sold after accepting loan for expansion
July 28, 2022 By Turf & Rec

A multi-million-dollar lawsuit has been launched against the Ben Eoin Golf Club on Cape Breton Island. The Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency claims it loaned $3.5 million to the golf course to help it expand to 18 holes, but the course was later sold without the agency’s permission. ACOA says in its claim that the club’s sale of its assets triggered a default in the parties’ investment agreement.
