Midland, Ont. adopts no-mow pilot project to help protect important pollinators
Local naturalist group says municipality can do even more

Having declared itself a “bee city,” Midland, Ont. is launching a pilot project to monitor the outcome of designated no-mow and reduced-mow areas. The local Midland-Penetanguishene Field Naturalists group has applauded the municipality’s move aimed at protecting pollinators, but wishes to see further action taken, such as spending money on downtown plantings of native species that would attract native insects.
