Massive resort proposed around Belleville, Ont.’s Black Bear Ridge Golf Club

The award-winning Black Bear Golf Club in Belleville may become the nucleus of a $1.54-billion resort concept. The proposal includes a 370-hectare mixed-use resort, hotel and 3,000-home residential complex. A consultant’s economic impact analysis reported a resort could create $53.7 million annually in business output. It is estimated more than 12,000 jobs would be created during both the construction period and in full-time employment upon opening. The 27-hole golf course opened in 2005.
