Local family makes large donation to cover costs of softball diamond improvements

A local family has contributed $100,000 towards upgrades for Mount Forest, Ont.’s Optimist Ball Diamond. The funding, donated by Jim Donald and his family, will be used for red clay surfacing, fencing and upgrades to the players’ area. In addition to the private donation, municipal council is providing $30,000 to improve drainage and has agreed to rename the field as the Donald Softball Diamond.
