Lawsuit launched against heritage society over flooded sports field in Fort McMurray

A $2-million lawsuit has been launched against the Fort McMurray (Alta.) Heritage Society following damages incurred to a sports field and fence. The Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo alleges the heritage society’s building of a berm to protect one of its properties during flooding in April 2020 damaged the Keyano Sports Field. The municipality alleges the berm affected the field’s drainage, resulting in water pooling up on the track.
