Lawn care perhaps biggest contributor to water pollution, climate change: scientists
Suggest more sustainable management methods

Scientists suggest that lawn maintenance is perhaps the biggest contributor to water pollution and climate change. They claim mowers, blowers and fertilizers are the main culprits, and suggest alternatives should be considered for lawns or a more sustainable way to manage yards. A University of Delaware professor of agriculture and natural resources says four things must be done to achieve ecological sustainability: carbon sequestration, pollinator support, food web support and watershed management.
