Kitchener spending $500,000 to prevent stray golf balls entering widened Highway 401
Doon Valley to renovate two holes for safety
June 27, 2022 By Turf & Rec

The widening of Highway 401 in the Kitchener area has forced the city to reconfigure two holes at the municipal Doon Valley Golf Course to prevent errant shots from striking passing motorists. Prior to the road work, a buffer area of trees and a drainage area separated the golf course from the highway, but that space has sufficiently been reduced enough that stray balls can more easily find their way onto the roadway. The city is spending $500,000 on renovations so that holes 1 and 8 play from safer angles.
