Kitchener council approves $93-million recreation facility that includes artificial turf field house and pool
Cost has more than doubled over 2019 estimates
June 1, 2022 By Turf & Rec

Kitchener city council has given its approval for a new $93-million recreation facility at the city’s RBJ Schlegel Park. The project is to include a 65,000-square-foot field house with artificial turf and a 45,000-square foot aquatics centre with an eight-lane pool and a warm-water leisure pool. The cost of the project is more than double 2019 estimates due to inflation and a larger size than what was originally proposed. Council was told construction of the facility could finish by 2025.
