Japanese beetle populations on the decline in Vancouver

Invasive insect first discovered in city in 2017

Populations of Japanese beetles are on the decline in Vancouver after first being discovered in the city in 2017. Close to 1,000 beetles were trapped that year, but the number soared to more than 8,000 the following year. A spraying program was launched afterward, and only 214 beetles were trapped last year.
