Hungrier ticks more determined to find hosts

Nov. 22, 2018 – Scientists have learned that ticks’ metabolisms speed up after months of fasting, and they are more determined to find human hosts when starved for so long. Studies suggest starved ticks take larger blood meals, providing a greater opportunity to transmit disease such as Lyme or Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever.
