Hikers, bikers to pay fee to access trail network at Victoria golf course property
Liability concerns trigger implementation of fees
June 9, 2021 By Victoria Times Colonist

Victoria, B.C.’s Bear Mountain Golf Resort is going to start charging fees for bikers and hikers who wish to use its network of trails. Ecoasis, the company behind the resort, claims liability concerns are the reason behind the proposed charges, noting there has been an increase in biker and hiker traffic on the property. The proposal, however, isn’t sitting well with the executive director of the Nature Trails Society, who said the obstacle of a fee would sever the network from other trails.
