Heavy rains result in temporary closure of Mississauga’s natural grass sports fields

Heavy rainfall starting Tuesday evening, throughout the day Wednesday and continuing into Thursday forced the closure of Mississauga’s natural turf sports fields.

Conditions were to be assessed Thursday after the weather system was expected to leave the region. The municipality anticipated between 60 and 75 millimetres of rain to fall between late Tuesday and Thursday.

The weather system covered most of southern Ontario.

All fields in the city were closed and permits cancelled during the storm’s duration.
