Dartmouth, N.S. will play host to the Sports Turf Association's biennial Atlantic Sports Turf Field Day on June 18.
The inaugural Atlantic Canadian event was held in 2011 in Moncton, N.B.
Presented by the Sports Turf Association, the June program will address new products and technologies for sports turf managers, including fertilizers, novel grass species, weed control products and crumb rubber for natural turf sports fields. Featured speakers are Dr. Eric Lyons from the University of Guelph, home of the world class Guelph Turfgrass Institute, and Dr. Tim Vanini of New Dimensions Turf. Industry professional George Bannerman, Gordon Bannerman Limited, will take participants onto the field for a "hands on" session on new seeding methods and seeder calibration.
Educational sessions will be held at the Dartmouth Sportsplex followed by practical on-the-field training and a tailgate tradeshow on the Dartmouth Commons.
