Grand Forks ball diamond hit hard by brutal summer conditions to be restored
Drought-resistant fescue to be grown
October 6, 2021 By Trail Times

James Donaldson Park in Grand Forks, B.C. is getting a facelift after succumbing to a brutal summer. The home of the renowned Grand Forks International baseball tournament (GFI) experienced extensive setbacks this past summer, forcing the ball diamond to be razed to the subsoil in September. It is expected the infield will need about 100 cubic yards of sand for leveling. A drought-resistant fescue will be grown to better withstand play and use less water and fertilizer.
