Alberta bans elm pruning to ward off disease spread

A healthy elm tree, left, and one with disease. A province-wide elm tree pruning ban has gone into effect in Alberta as a means to stop the spread of Dutch elm disease. The ban is in effect from April 1 to Sept. 30. Any pruning that is to be done will have to wait until the winter months.
