Gas-powered leaf blowers are a ‘vile invention,’ says University of Southern California professor

The leaf blower is a “vile invention” that serves as a “major setback to the progress of civilization,” a University of Southern California professor says. Last October, a bill was signed to end the use of gas-powered leaf blowers and mowers in the state. Such equipment has come under fire for their noise and emissions output. California has mandated there be zero emissions by 2024, and has earmarked $30 million to help landscapers with the transition away from gas-powered equipment.
