Gananoque pushes forward with plans to quash its largest ball diamond

It doesn't make any sense, says diamond's namesake

In spite of a petition signed by more than 450 people to save the largest ball diamond in Gananoque, Ont. from giving way to other sports facilities, the municipality is pressing forward to close the Arlene Cartwright diamond. “There’s some things in life that don’t make any sense and this is one of them,” Cartwright, for whom the diamond was named and the one responsible for getting it off the ground in the early 1990s, said. “I just don’t understand why they would tear down a perfectly good facility and that’s going to cost money to do and put in a facility that the majority of people don’t want.”
