Fundraising deadline nears to save Toronto’s oldest tree
Campaign hopes to raise necessary funds to buy adjacent house

A fundraising campaign to save Toronto’s oldest tree – estimated at more than 250 years old – from being taken down is nearing its Dec. 12 deadline. The hope is to raise $430,000, with the city matching private donations, so that an adjacent house can be torn down and turn the area into a public park.
