Former golf course property slated for conversion to agricultural land

Soil deemed suitable for agricultural purposes

April 8, 2022  By Turf & Rec

A former golf course in Edwards, Ont., which ceased operations several years ago, may be converted as agricultural land.

The former Champions Nest Golf Club property is 58 hectares in size. Its soil has been deemed suitable for agricultural purposes. The municipality’s agricultural and rural affairs committee approved an amendment this week to zone the property as agricultural. Council will render a decision on the recommendation at its April 13 meeting.

A one-hectare parcel next to the property would retain its agricultural zoning but would be allowed to operate an agricultural equipment rental and servicing business. The committee said the two properties benefit the area’s economic health.
