Football team asks Alberta town to improve cement-like field in time for season opener

Field hasn't been irrigated in years

Pincher Creek, Alta.’s local football team is asking town council for help to improve playing conditions at Matthew Halton High School, citing a number of shortcomings. The field isn’t the right size for football and lacks lights, but the playing surface needs the most attention. It hasn’t been irrigated in a few years and is like playing on cement, the team’s president says. The team hopes that if irrigation is to begin as soon as possible, a softer playing surface with a better stand of grass will await the team for its Aug. 16 opener.
