Federal funding denied, but Thunder Bay poised to explore other options for indoor turf facility
Soccer, cricket, lacrosse among potential sports

An application from the City of Thunder Bay to Infrastructure Canada’s Green and Inclusive Community Buildings (GICB) program to help build an indoor turf recreation centre has been denied. The city had applied for $22 million in federal funding for the proposed centre that would house such activities as soccer, ultimate frisbee, cricket and lacrosse. City council expects to vote on recommended next steps to proceed with the project.
