Fate of proposed winter homeless shelter project in London to be discussed today

The City of London, Ont. and Atlohsa Family Healing Services are to meet today to discuss the fate of a winter homeless shelter project that had been planned for the municipal River Road Golf Course. A fire at the former clubhouse last weekend, which caused about $1 million in damages, cast doubt on the project’s future as the clubhouse was to serve as a place where meals would be prepared and give people access to toilets, showers and laundry facilities. Because the project is Indigenous-led, the fire is being viewed as suspicious with possible racist motives. READ MORE
