Educators offer differing perspectives about the No Mow May promotion

Turf is healthiest when it's mowed regularly, says GTI's Dr. Sara Stricker

Differing viewpoints of the No Mow May promotion have been expressed by two different Guelph educators. On the one side is Dr. Sara Stricker of the Guelph Turfgrass Institute who says grass lawns are their healthiest when turf is mowed regularly. With an opposing view is Nigel Raine, a professor of environmental sciences at the University of Guelph, who says holding off mowing in May is better than nothing for helping pollinators.
