Dwindling interest results in temporary suspension of chafer subsidy program
Residents could get 50% off nematode control

Declining interest in a European chafer subsidy program in New Westminster, B.C. has resulted in its temporary suspension. The program was launched in 2008 as a means of combating the pest and developing a safer means to deal with the destructive lawn insect. In 2020, the number of subsidy coupons used – allowing residents to save 50 per cent on a biological control method – began to decline.
