Dry conditions lead to pair of grass fires at Vancouver’s Stanley Park

Tossed cigarette butts to blame

Carelessly discarded cigarette butts have been blamed for a pair of grass fires in Vancouver’s Stanley Park during the long weekend. The extraordinarily dry conditions in the area make the risk of fire even greater, and smoking is not permitted in the park. Until conditions become better, the park will remain closed until further notice between the hours of 10 p.m. and 6 a.m.
