Don’t spray weeds in city parks, Edmonton warns well meaning local residents
Reduced mowing cycles leading to more weeds
July 9, 2021 By Edmonton Journal
Edmonton’s municipal parks have seen an increase in weed populations as a result of reduced mowing cycles, but the city doesn’t want local residents volunteering to spray. Illegal spraying among non-city staff has been occurring in parks, and people are being warned they could face fines of $250 if caught. The city suggests that such activity can damage turf, plants and other public property.
