Des Rice, the original Weed Man, dies at 62

The founder of Weed Man and the head of one of Canada's leading franchise organizations—That Franchise Group—has died. Desmond Francis Joseph (Des) Rice was 62.thumb_desweb

The "original Weed Man" died Thursday, April 14 in Naples, Fla. He leaves behind his wife Brenda, daughters Charlie and Samantha Rice, son-in-law Jeffrey Robins and granddaughter Ella Rice-Robins.

Rice was considered a great leader who genuinely cared for his family, employees, franchisees and business associates, and who made a difference in many people's lives.

A memorial will be held at Glen Oaks Memorial Gardens and Reception Centre, 3164 Ninth Line, Oakville, Ont. (Hwy. 403 and Dundas Street) for memorial visitation on Friday, May 13, from 6-9 p.m. A memorial service will be held in the chapel on Saturday, May 14 at 11 a.m.
