Decision on proposed indoor turf facility may have to wait beyond next municipal election
Thunder Bay project estimated at $44.8M

Thunder Bay city council’s hopes to finalize plans for an indoor turf facility in the city before the fall municipal election may not be met. Its request for federal funding to support the $44.8-million project was recently turned down. Council will be updated on next steps, but not until late July. The delay will accommodate public consultation, but a final decision on the project is likely to be put in the hands of the next council, the city’s mayor says.
