Couple’s pollinator-friendly property runs afoul with neighbours, municipality
Fine of $400 possible for failure to mow

A La Pêche, Que. couple, who intentionally designed a pollinator-friendly yard, are in a battle with their local municipality which claims the property’s choice of vegetation constitutes a nuisance. Jazmine Maisonneuve, a landscape designer, says her yard grown to milkweed, thistles, purple asters and Queen Anne’s lace, is actually more beautiful than her neighbours’ scorched lawns.
