Council committee suggests pausing privatizing municipal golf discussion

Committee in Calgary wants to wait until end of 2022

Discussions about privatizing golf course operations at Calgary’s municipal courses may be put on hold until at least the end of 2022. The privatization strategy has involved both a test of the market and the hiring of a consultant, but neither approach has been fruitful. City-owned courses had been profitable until 2013 before experiencing a decline in revenue. Last year, however, a $421,000 surplus was realized.
