The cost of a proposed cricket stadium in Brampton, Ont. has soared about 40 cent since discussion of the facility began a year ago. Originally cited at $35 million, the cost to build a multi-purpose cricket facility has since climbed to $49 million, the municipality has learned. Mayor Patrick Brown has been a vocal supporter of the project, saying the city will benefit from such a facility, but its future could depend on the outcome of the coming fall municipal election and Brown’s contention for the Conservative Party of Canada leadership.
