Dean Piller, superintendent at Victoria, B.C.’s Cordova Bay Golf Course, is one of five individuals from the city and 33 from the province honoured recently with the Sovereign’s Medal for Volunteers.

The veteran superintendent has been active the past eight years as chairman of the organizing committee for the Vancouver Island Golf Superintendents Association, helping to raise funds for and awareness of the Multiple Sclerosis Society of Canada.

The national honour was formerly called the Governor General’s Caring Canadian Award.
