Consultant recommends against Barrie sports field project, but city still has final say
Artificial turf sports field and parade ground proposed for Barrie's waterfront
August 21, 2024 By Turf & Rec
Although a consultant has advised the City of Barrie, Ont. look elsewhere to establish a new sports field and parade ground, his word is not the final say, Mayor Alex Nuttall says.
Barrie Today reports that council will still make a decision as to where to locate the proposed field, including its originally proposed site on the city’s waterfront.
The consultant is a retired lawyer who specializes in municipal law and land use planning. He recommends against the artificial turf project in that area, suggesting it not be considered at all.
