Bylaw officers in Windsor, Ont. are struggling to keep up with the volume of complaints they are receiving about unkempt lawns in the city.

About 1,500 outstanding calls have been reported or about three times the number from two months ago.

A local resident who has made about 30 calls of her own said grass in some areas has grown to a height of about two feet, creating a safety hazard. She said small children may not readily be seen which could result in an accident.

About 16,000 calls were made last year to bylaw officials.
