Complaints about pickleball’s noise has City of Ottawa shuttering park’s outdoor courts

Game is one of Canada's fastest growing outdoor pursuits

One of Canada’s fastest growing recreational pastimes is also one that is generating its share of controversy. Pickleball, a variation of tennis, is attracting more and more participants who enjoy the smaller-sized court, but residents living near pickleball courts aren’t enamoured by the constant “clacking” sound the paddle makes when in contact with the harder plastic ball. Complaints have reached the City of Ottawa which has determined the outdoor game played at Centennial Park will have to be moved indoors. The news isn’t sitting well with participants who are attracted to the game’s outdoor aspects.
