June 7, 2019 – A number of local citizens are calling for the closure of artificial turf sports fields at Vancouver’s Trillium Park after lab tests revealed the presence of lead among the crumb rubber infill. Although tests showed the amounts of lead were within federal safety guidelines, the citizens say the chance of contamination within storm sewers, shrubs and grass is enough of a concern to warrant the fields’ shutdown.
