Canada geese stand no chance on golf courses patrolled by trio of border collies

Dogs won't attack birds, but will scare them silly

May 30, 2022  By Turf & Rec

Canada geese are no issue at all at four private golf courses in the Kitchener-Guelph area. Thanks to man’s best friend – namely a trio of border collies from Bright, Ont.-based AdventureK9 Goose Control – the golf course turf isn’t chewed up, nor is there bird excrement to dodge. Jason Winter, director of turf operations at Deer Ridge Golf Club, says geese aren’t a problem at the Kitchener course, thanks to the canine patrol. The dogs don’t attack the geese, but sufficiently frighten them enough to urge them to relocate to other areas away from golf courses.
