Calgary’s ongoing water restrictions are taking toll on local landscaping industry
Companies reporting significant layoffs of staff

Summer-long water restrictions in Calgary, which were precipitated by a massive feeder main break in June, have had a significant impact on the local landscaping industry.
Widespread layoffs are among the setbacks companies have faced as a result of the city’s water situation, CBC News reports.
The executive director of Landscape Alberta is asking the city to allow some landscaping work to continue during the shutdown of the major pipe that begins this month. Without help from the city, some landscaping companies estimate their workforces could dwindle by about 50 per cent.
