Burk’s Falls, Ont. to supplement funding from Blue Jays to improve local baseball field

The Toronto Blue Jays’ charitable arm has poured $50,000 into improvements for the Knights Brothers Park baseball field in Burk’s Falls, Ont.

The lion’s share of the Jays Care Foundation money will be spent repairing and replacing section of the field fencing along the first and third baselines.

Roofs will be constructed atop the dugouts to provide shade for players on hot days and a better infield surface material is being sought to improve ball bounce. The outfield grass is also an issue and in need of levelling.

The entire project is estimated to cost about $76,000. The remaining funds will be covered by the town’s reserve fund.
