Vancouver Island’s ecosystems won’t be saved by buying into the No Mow May campaign, local biodiversity experts say. They suggest that instead of pausing lawn mowing for a month, growing native plants to support local wildlife is the key. No Mow May is well intentioned, they add, but it’s an insufficient way of addressing the loss of native species.
