B.C. Place transforms its turf surface in trial run before World Cup tournament

Vancouver, one of two Canadian cities that will join other North American cities as host venues for the 2026 World Cup of Soccer, has given B.C. Place a trial run ahead of the international competition.

A game between the Vancouver Whitecaps FC and the Wrexham AFC meant having to put down a natural turf surface atop the existing artificial surface.

The Western Canada Turfgrass Association has published an account of the process involved in getting the stadium ready for the game with the turf transformation.
