Artificial turf playing fields expected to help provide more playing time for user groups

Two new artificial turf sports fields could soon be in operation in Nanaimo, B.C., for play among soccer, football, lacrosse and softball user groups. The city’s general manager of parks recreation and culture says by installing synthetic playing surfaces at Harewood Centennial Park, more hours of play can be realized. He touted the artificial fields’ shock absorbency and drainage abilities as key considerations.
