Amherstburg, Ont. residents rally to save what’s left of park, including football field

Petition to preserve 12 acres of park has about 2,000 signatures

A movement is afoot in Amherstburg, Ont. to save the football field, track and a popular tobogganing hill at Centennial Park. The town has already sold 15 acres of the park for the construction of a new dual high school, but the remaining 12 acres – site of the field, track and hill – could be earmarked for housing, some residents fear. A petition to preserve the other 12 acres has already garnered about 2,000 signatures.
